OVERVIEW
For my Writing and Visual Rhetoric, we were tasked to create a "multimodal" genre based project which allowed me to tap into my creativity through design with an academic purpose. By integrating traditional animated family sitcom elements with contemporary social media marketing strategies, Bluey has successfully appealed to both children and adults. This study explores how the show’s narrative techniques, visual aesthetics, and digital marketing tactics contribute to its broad appeal. The final deliverable will be an interactive website designed using Framer, Figma, and Adobe Photoshop, presenting an in-depth analysis of Bluey’s multimodal success.
Project Reflection
Background and Context
Bluey has emerged as a cultural phenomenon, transcending its primary audience of young children to engage parents and general audiences through emotional storytelling and relatable humor. Its marketing strategy leverages social media platforms such as Instagram, Twitter, and TikTok, utilizing viral content, fan engagement, and community-building to reinforce its brand identity. By examining these components, this study aims to uncover how Bluey effectively balances entertainment and educational content while fostering a strong digital presence.
Process and Execution
The creation of this project involved a combination of research, design, and user experience development. Choosing an interactive website as the final format allowed for a structured, visually engaging, and accessible platform to present findings. The development process was informed by professional UX/UI design principles, ensuring a balance between aesthetics and functionality. Additionally, peer evaluations provided valuable insights that helped refine the analytical focus and strengthen the overall structure of the case study.
One of the primary challenges was determining the specific genre classification for Bluey. The balance between meeting academic requirements while maintaining an engaging web experience required iterative revisions. AI tools were utilized to enhance clarity, simplify complex language, and ensure alignment with the rubric.
AI as a Tool
Simplifying complicated language and making sure my analysis complied with the rubric were made possible by AI tools like ChatGPT. I was able to look at my work's strengths and areas in need for improvement and increase clarity thanks to this procedure. I noticed that AI enhances my work by offering unbiased criticism which helped develop my project even more.
Project Deliverable: Interactive Website
To present the findings effectively, an interactive website will be developed. The website will include:
Comprehensive analysis of Bluey’s storytelling methods, marketing strategies, and aesthetic choices.
Interactive elements that allow users to engage with case study findings dynamically.
A cohesive visual experience, ensuring accessibility and ease of navigation.
The website was created using Framer, Figma, and Adobe Photoshop. These tools enabled the development of a polished, professional, and engaging platform that effectively communicates the research findings. Due to time constraints, the site is optimized for desktop viewing, though the design ensures usability across different screen sizes.
